Michele Zampa
Welcome to my website. My name is Michele. I am an applied economist with a background in causal inference, machine learning, geospatial analysis, and computational methods. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at IHEID in Geneva. In September 2026, I will join the Department of Geography and Environment at LSE as an SNSF Visiting Fellow. A central part of my work involves building automated data pipelines that transform unstructured historical and administrative sources into scalable research datasets, which I analyze using econometric, machine learning, and natural language processing methods. My current research explores how public policy and infrastructure shape economic development, how political narratives influence institutional change, and how emerging technologies are transforming the production of empirical knowledge.
